Del Posto

Website

This is your special occasion, just-got-a-promotion, impress-a-date type of place.

I had been reading about Del Posto for years - including the behind-the-scenes on how it came to being from co-owner Joe Bastianich's book  "Restaurant Man" .

Along with co-owners Lydia (Joe's infamous Mom), his friend and business partner, Mario Batali and Executive Chef Melissa Rodriguez, they created Del Posto to be the type of high-end Italian restaurant that was like no other.

Slick, luxurious, sink-in-your-chair dining is what Del Posto does best.

The service is attentive but not stuffy. The food is creative, but always familiar.

From the time we arrived, until we left at the end of the evening, every staff member made us feel special and comfortable.

We have dined in MANY restaurants around Manhattan and to date - this is my husband's favourite place to dine and spoil himself a little.

Hard-to-beat details like whipping crème fraîche and heavy cream together into a silky ball to serve with your baguettine had us drooling!

They have two different tasting menus to sample, if you can't decide off of the à la carte menu. Even the 5-course is MORE than plenty for an average diner's appetite, including sharing two pastas for the second course.

With a few amuse bouches from the kitchen to start and a table full of little sweets to surprise you at the end of your meal, there is nothing you will miss out on.

FAV item? Luna Piena  - It costs a small surcharge to add this to your tasting menu, but worth it if you are a truffle lover. Cheese, truffle and light-as-air pasta on a plate - Delizioso!
