What I liked…
- lots of cute appliances, dishes, equipment in the kitchen/dining area
- TV had a lot of station options such as Netflix but we didn't need it
- A/C is controlled by a remote control and a second unit is in the bedroom
- many small balconies for the one apartment with views of downtown León - including one with a bistro table and tiled floors that get warmed by the sun
- the downtown location was perfect for us - close to shopping, plazas (public squares), dining options and old churches and museums
- across the street from a convenience/grocery store so it was easy to stock up on snacks and supplies
What I didn’t like so much…
- no coffee pods for the Delonghi coffee machine in the room and we didn't want to buy an entire box full for one night's stay. It would have been nice to have a couple of them ready for us.
- the remote for the A/C in the bedroom was missing so we could not turn it on, however, we left the door open to the living room and it was cool enough for sleeping
- around 11pm I was awoken by a noise in the kitchen and then the apartment door closing. It turned out it was a staff member delivering 2 croissants to our kitchen while we were sleeping! I didn't hear a doorbell or knock at all and no advance notice that anyone would be entering our room. I had read in a manual that if we added a breakfast package that they would arrive after 8:30am so I was not expecting anything at any time. SO creepy!
- the description of this apartment was that the self-parking was "meters away" but it was actually a few blocks away...big difference when you are carting large suitcases down a cobblestone street
- I had to contact hotels.com the day before our arrival to obtain check-in instructions since nothing was sent to us prior to us arriving in Spain. Even hotels.com had difficulty reaching anyone who spoke enough English to communicate with their North American offices. We received the instructions late the night before and thankfully they were fairly easy to understand.
This apartment was a great find on hotels.com. Similar to an airbnb booking, it is self check-in with keyless entry to the building and the apartment. I just wish that there was more communication with the owners/management about what we could expect so we didn't feel so nervous about anyone entering our room so late at night. I did love the place and the location, but would have to have a chat with someone first about their practices before I stayed there again.
