What I liked…
- The rooms are designed SO well! I can see how long-stay travellers would choose this hotel again and again. Drawers and cabinets are everywhere in the room and ledges and there are little design details like shower drains tucked in the corner that add to the comfort.
- The beds were luxurious! It was difficult to get up and out the next ay (which is unusual for me).
- The Yorkville area is booming and has enough shopping, restos and bars nearby to offer enough attractions for tourists to stay put for their entire stay.
What I didn’t like so much…
- The lobby is designed with such high walls that are so similar, it can be easy to get lost on your first day or two. Even when we were checking out the next day, I still hesitated to decide which way to turn to get to the valet.
- The room rate is a little hefty (and I know if may also be because it was New Years Eve). This is a once-in-a-while-I'll-spoil-myself hotel, for sure!
- I liked the idea of having dBar downstairs for a late-night spot, but for $75 per person cover for a reserved table after 10pm, it was a bit steep. We tried a couple of the snacks just before midnight and they were just ok. Nice spot for a quick cocktail and people-watching, but I am not sure about suggesting it for a dining destination. Too bad because I am a fan of anything that Chef Boulud creates.
